Today you’ll take a short drive into Tunis, the Tunisian capital, with its impressive colonial-style boulevards and bustling medina (Old Town) – the ancient heart of the city. Here you’ll encounter the market’s sounds, sights and scents, where the presence of local crafts, spices, and textiles create a culturally immersive experience. Take the time to haggle a little for a souvenir and enjoy the atmosphere of this treasure trove.
You'll stop at the Bardo Museum, housed in the 19th-century Palace of the Beys. The Bardo Museum is famous for its outstanding collection of mosaics, significant finds from the Phoenician/Roman settlement at Carthage, and early Christian and Muslim relics. Take a guided tour of the most important displays, including the Virgil room, housing a spectacular Roman mosaic from Sousse.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered; shorts and short skirts are not allowed. There are no elevators at the Bardo Museum. Most of the exhibits are on the second and third levels. A fee of €1 per camera is payable at the Bardo Museum. Tour does not operate on Mondays.
