Hiking on the Îles des Saintes rewards visitors with winding trails leading to lush vegetation and panoramic views of the surrounding islands.
Start the day with an invigorating hike up Mount Morel. The rugged trails here are surrounded by greenery and, as you ascend to the summit, the beauty of the archipelago and the sparkling Caribbean Sea is revealed. At the top, you'll see the ruins of Fort Caroline. Bask in the natural beauty, surrounded by cacti and frangipani trees, and the views over Les Saintes Bay.
The first European inhabitants of the island arrived from Brittany and Normandy, beginning a long tradition of fishing. On the way back to Terre-de-Haut, you will see hints of this heritage -- dinghies known as saintoises are still in use to this day. Discover this charming village with its colorful Creole houses and small fishing port.
Feel free to find a bakery and try some local specialties (at your own expense) -- such as the delicate le tourment d'amour tart with a coconut filling -- to end your day on a very indulgent note.
