Go beyond the ordinary at Punta Sur, a breathtaking park with rugged coastlines, lush mangrove forests, and a historic lighthouse, all while taking in panoramic views of the Caribbean. Today you’ll travel by bus and by foot to explore a jungle that will leave you utterly enchanted.
Set out with a small group to Punta Sur, a 247-acre natural state reserve that includes reefs, beaches, lagoons and forest on the south end of Cozumel.
Climb the 130 steps to the top of the Celarain Lighthouse, dating from 1901. From here you’ll see the panoramic view from the top is well worth the effort. See if you can spot one of the saltwater crocodiles that call the park’s lagoon home.
The former home of the lighthouse keeper has been turned into the Museum of Navigation where you can learn about the history of the area beginning with the time of the Mayans, including the story behind the lighthouse and tales of pirates. These stories will leave you amazed.
Next take a short drive through the jungle, which will bring you to a spectacular beach. Here you can don some snorkel gear and head to the nearby reef, go for a swim or simply sit back and relax in a beach chair while enjoying a refreshing beverage and taking in your serene surroundings. Feeling hungry? Enjoy a light lunch before heading back to the pier.
Please note: Maximum 7 privileged guests. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing, bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, a cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Snorkel gear is provided. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
