Today, you'll discover two of the most enchanting destinations in Curaçao -- the mesmerizing Hato Caves and the famous Dutch Colonial city center.
A short drive brings you to the impressive Hato Caves, where beautiful limestone formations create a breathtaking display of natural artistry. You'll also find the famous Madonna statue and a colony of long-nose fruit bats.
Returning to daylight, you'll drive back to the city and set out on a walking tour. You'll gain a good impression of life here in Willemstad's Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cobblestone streets wind through a kaleidoscope of pastel-colored Dutch colonial buildings, and the iconic waterfront, historic forts, and lively markets invite you to step back in time.
You will pass the colorful merchant houses on the quayside. The houses are happy to pose as perfect models for your great Curaçao vacation pictures, and Fort Amsterdam is home to the governor of Curaçao.
The last part of your walk will take you across the floating drawbridge that connects both sides of the city. If the bridge is open due to ship traffic, you will make use of the ferry. Your guide will escort you back to the ship, cutting through the Riffort area that is filled with many busy shops.
Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: Terrain includes 50 steps both up and down at Hato Caves. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes.
