Embark your motor coach for the four-hour drive from the port of Safaga to the marvelous west bank of Luxor.
Upon arrival, you will start your visit to the Valley of the Kings. The Ancient Egyptians stopped building Pyramids as royal tombs after robbers stole all the treasures inside. They started burying their royalty in secret tombs at Thebes, today named the West Bank of Luxor. Explore this part of the city of the dead, where New Kingdom Pharaohs were buried in hidden tombs that still sport their richly painted colors and were filled with treasures for use in the afterlife.
A special visit of the Tomb of Seti I (Sethos I) has been arranged for you. This is the longest (at almost 400 feet), deepest and most completed tomb in the Valley of the Kings. It also represents the fullest development of offset, or jogged, royal tombs in the valley.
You will also marvel Medinet Habu - both a temple and a complex of temples dating from the New Kingdom. The area was one of the earliest places within the Theban region to be associated with the worship of Amun. See Ramesses III's mortuary temple - Medinet Habu’s most conspicuous standing monument.
Enjoy lunch in a local hotel on the West Bank.
End your day with a visit to the Valley of the Queens - the place where wives of Pharaohs were buried in ancient times. The Queens of the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties (1550–1070 BC) as well as many princes and princesses were buried here. The tombs were maintained by mortuary priests who performed daily rituals and provided offerings and prayers for the deceased nobility. The valley is located near the better-known Valley of the Kings, on the west bank of the Nile across from Thebes (modern Luxor).
At the end of your visit, you will board your motor coach for the drive back to the port of Safaga.
Please note: A boxed snack will be provided during your drive, before lunch. Minimum age is 12 years. Shade is limited; please dress accordingly. Bring a hat and wear sunscreen.
