Perfect for the cultural epicurean, this outing includes wine and food pairings as well as a visit to one of Prince of Wales Island's most important Native American treasures.
Head to a secluded location along the Klawock River to enjoy some of the signature flavors of the island. Here, you'll pair wines with a harvest of beautiful foods and flavors from local producers. Sample the oysters for which Klawock is widely known throughout Southeast Alaska, as well as salmon, halibut, kelp, salmon roe, and seasonal berries. Enjoy a curated selection of wines chosen by the chef to complement each course. Hear how the oysters originate and what makes the Klawock variety such a delicacy.
Next, you'll head to Klawock Veterans Memorial Park and the highly-respected Totem Park. The latter showcases a remarkable collection of intricately-carved totems that narrate the rich heritage of the Tlingit people. Nestled among a scenic landscape, the totems are a testament to the artistry and stories passed down through generations.
A short drive back to Klawock returns you to the pier.
