This exceptional 2.5-hour opportunity to see the forested environs of Alaska begins with a panoramic drive through the town of Hoonah. This is the largest Tlingit village community in the world.
Venture out along old logging roads into the wilderness to the Spasski River Valley in the Tongass National Forest. At the trailhead, begin a two-mile hike through a spectacular stretch of nature that cuts through private Native-owned lands that are both secluded and pristine.
From atop a mountain, take in unforgettable views across Chichagof Island and its surrounding waterways. You might even see a whale breaching in the distance. You're surrounded by lush foliage, so your guide will provide details on the local flora and fauna and the diverse history of this great land. You may see brown bears, Sitka black-tail deer and bald eagles.
Refuel with a snack; then, head down the trail.
Please note: Minimum age is 7 years. Participants must be in good health and able to independently navigate terrain over two miles. Wear sturdy footwear and dress warmly in layers. This tour operates in all weather conditions.
