Your expedition team and a local guide will take you on a slow-paced stroll through the Botanic Gardens of Rio de Janeiro. Founded in 1808, the gardens were intended for acclimatizing exotic species of commercial value to the Brazilian tropics. With a collection of over six thousand species from all over the world, as well as abundant birdlife, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the gardens at a leisurely pace, learning not only about the flora but also about the history of the garden.
At the end of the walking tour, guests will have time to stop at the souvenir shop before heading back to your ship.
Please note:
Limited walking is required on mostly even and flat surfaces. Temperatures and humidity will be high. Dress for warm weather with cool fabrics that protect your skin from sunburn and insects. There is limited shade in the park. Bring water, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and insect repellent. Bring a waterproof jacket and suitable camera protection, as rainstorms often occur unexpectedly. Minimum age is 6 years and guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Tour operates weather permitting.
