Travel by coach to the Historic Leeds Castle, home to six English queens and playground of Henry VIII.
On arrival at Leeds Castle, take a delightful walk along a flat path which follows a meandering stream through a belt of stately trees. A series of small lakes are a natural habitat for a fine collection of unusual and exotic waterfowl. At the castle building entrance, you will pass through the 13th century Gate Tower, which stoically guards the main part of the castle.
Passing from room to room, you will see the carved beams, Tudor stonework, wall-hangings and Flemish tapestries. Each room is teeming with atmospheric delights and represents a walk through history. From the Norman cellar to the medieval keep, from Henry VIII's banqueting hall and the royal chapel to the beautiful drawing rooms created in the 1930s, the rooms' stories and secrets are brought alive for you by the castle guides.
Travel the short distance to medieval Canterbury. The Cathedral is the city's crowning glory -- its wonderful features include magnificent architecture and medieval stained glass that is among the finest in the country. All of this will be explained to you and more by one of the cathedral guides as they lead you round the cathedral and unravel its history before you.
After your visit, you will have approximately 2 1/2 hours to explore Canterbury at your leisure.
Please note: This tour is available only to in-transit guests whose cruise does not end in Dover.Participants must negotiate stairs and/or uneven surfaces and is therefore not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations.
