Immerse yourself in Tarragona’s history, classical culture and fascinating architecture; stretching back 1000s of years with a walking tour through the old city.
Your first stop is at the ancient city gate, ‘Portal of Roser’. This stop offers you a unique opportunity to see and touch the City Walls of Tarragona – the oldest Roman construction in Spain. Step back in time at the Model of Roman Tarraco, a miniature reconstruction depicting city life during the 2nd century, the height of its glory.
Later, as you walk the cobbled streets of this ancient city, take in the remarkable street art and architectural features spanning thousands of years of periods and styles, throughout its captivating history.
Stop to view the Cathedral of Tarragona where your guide will explain the religious history of the region and this important monument, situated on the hill top and built over a Roman temple.
Your guide will then lead you to the Roman Circus, one of the best preserved circuses in the Western world. Step inside the walls and imagine the horse and chariot races, watched by as many as 30,000 spectators that took place here in a bygone era.
Before returning to the pier, enjoy free time to gaze out over the sea and waterfront from the Mediterranean Balcony.
