Enjoy the ride from the port to the first photo stop in one of the top urban beaches in Europe. Las Canteras beach in northeast Gran Canaria, right in the capital city Las Palmas, is among Europe’s most famous city beaches. Its appeal is due to its natural beauty, city-center location and the services and amenities along its promenade.
Your tour continues through the exclusive residential area of Tafira, as you ride up to the vast volcanic crater of Bandama, an extinct volcano rising nearly 1900 feet above sea level. Have your camera ready, as you enjoy panoramic views of the island and the first golf course built in Spain.
Then you’ll drive to the oldest quarter of Las Palmas, called Vegueta which is a maze of narrow, cobblestone streets and tiny shaded squares, visiting the colorful market, pass by Plaza Santa Ana where you can see Las Palmas Cathedral with its bronze statues in honor of the dogs, which gave the Canary Islands their name (canum in Latin), the song-birds were later named after the islands.
Before transferring to the Las Palmas Airport, enjoy Canarian tapas at a local restaurant.
Please note: This tour is available only to guests whose cruise ends in Las Palmas and with flights departing after 3:30 pm.
