Journey to the city of La Coruna and set off on a guided walking tour of the old town, passing the shaded Plaza de Azcarraga with its lovely stone fountain and graceful buildings and the beautiful Town Hall in Maria Pita Square. View the unique glass enclosed balconies of the Avenida de la Marina, built to protect against strong winds. Stroll through the peaceful San Carlos Gardens and see the tomb of Sir John Moore.
Catch a glimpse of Europe’s oldest working lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules,built by the Romans and rebuilt in the 18th century.
Along the way, stop in a local bar to taste a regional favorite, hot churros and chocolate before visiting the local market. With different floors and many small stalls offering a variety of local products from meat and seafood to produce and baked goods, the market is the heart of the city.
Following your market visit, head to a local tapas bar where you will have the opportunity to try a variety of traditional Spanish tapas paired with local wines.
After your introduction to the history and culture of this fascinating city, return to Ferrol.
