Enjoy a scenic two-hour drive by comfortable coach to Granada.
The famous Alhambra dates to the 14th century and is composed of three parts -- the Alhambra Nasrid Royal Palace (residence of the Caliphs), the Generalife Gardens, and the Fortress of Alcazaba. Your tour today includes only the Generalife Gardens and the Fortress of Alcazaba.
Lying to the east of the Alhambra fortress and residence are the magnificent Generalife gardens surrounding the Alhambra palace complex, said to contain the finest example of Islamic architecture outside the Arab world. The gardens of the Generalife are reputedly inspired by the Koranic description of paradise. Walk with your knowledgeable guide through the Gardens of San Francisco, the Low Gardens and the High Gardens with the fountains and pools of the Court of the Main Canal, the Queen's Cypress Court, and the Water Steps. You will also visit the Generalife Palace -- the summer respite for the Caliph when the Alhambra became too hot.
Next, step inside the Alcazaba Fortress -- the oldest part of the Alhambra complex. Explore the Partal Gardens and the ruins of the Yusuf III Palace, which now comprise a leafy garden area.
Lunch is served at a restaurant situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range.
Please note: This tour does not visit the Alhambra Nasrid Royal Palace (the residence of the Caliphs). Your tour today includes only the Generalife Gardens and the Fortress of Alcazaba. The Generalife has strict booking guidelines. Tickets for this tour are on a request basis. Bookings will initially be waitlisted until tickets for the Alhambra can be confirmed, at which point you will receive a notification. Generalife tickets are personalized and sold ahead of time; therefore, your passport information must be on file in your cruise booking when waitlisting for this tour. You must bring the same passport on tour for entry to the Generalife; a hard photocopy or a digital copy on your mobile device is not acceptable.
