Today, you'll take a two-tank dive boat trip. The boat ride to the first dive site takes approximately 45 minutes. The party will be divided into smaller groups and guided by a dive master or instructor.
First, you'll enjoy a wreck dive a Antilla – known locally as "the ghost ship." Antilla is a German freighter that was scuttled by the Germans in 1945 and is the second-largest wreck in the Caribbean at 400 feet long. Covered by giant tube sponges and coral formations, the wreck is surrounded by lobsters and many kinds of tropical fish. The Antilla dive has a maximum depth of 60 feet for approximately 40 minutes of bottom time.
After a 20-minute surface interval, the second dive will take place on a shallower wreck -- the Pedernalis -- torpedoed by a German submarine during World War II. This oil tanker wreck lies in several large pieces spread out between coral formations. The area around the Pedernalis wreck is known for its many types of groupers and its bounty of angelfish. This dive has a maximum depth of 25 feet for approximately 40 minutes.・@・@
Please note: Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Dive at your own risk. You must fill out a medical questionnaire, which the tour operator will review. Whether or not the operator allows you to participate will depend upon the information provided. To avoid disappointment, please review the medical requirements for diving in advance so that you can ask your physician about clearing any medical issues in writing with a valid medical certificate. Medical certificates are not available from the physician on board the ship. Samples of typical medical questionnaires can be found on the websites of the major dive associations, such as PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) and NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors). Wear your swimsuit; bring a towel. Waiver release form must be signed, and medical conditions disclosed. Bring your C-card and dive log. Participants must have logged a dive in the last two years. In the event of adverse sea or weather conditions, an alternative dive site may be substituted. Minimum age is 12 years. Maximum weight is 350 lbs.
