Meet Malcolm -- a skipper from Top Catch Charters. He's your guide for a two-hour fishing trip off the Kaikoura Coast.
Once you're on the water, it's only a short trip to abundant fishing grounds, where you can expect some truly exceptional fishing action. The backdrop to your catch experience is impressive local wildlife, such as albatross and seal sightings, and the breathtakingly abrupt Kaikoura mountain range. The ocean is rich with blue cod and sea perch, and you'll also assist in checking the crayfish pots.
On your return to shore, Chef Fiona will meet you at the dock. She'll check your catch and safely transport it to Hapuku Kitchen. You'll have some time for a break to grab a coffee or freshen up.
Then, join Fiona at Hapuku Kitchen and learn how to prepare your catch, including how to scale and filet a fish and how to break up a crayfish. Forage on the property for fresh ingredients and, with Fiona's guidance, you'll cook your catch in a variety of ways.
Fiona and her team plate up everything you have prepared. All that remains for you to do is to enjoy the feast accompanied by local wine and beer.
