A one-hour scenic drive brings you to the Cape Ayamaru Observatory, located in the northeastern sector of Amami. This wild and beautiful cape juts out into the Pacific Ocean; take photos of the magnificent views of Kikaijima Island, the Tonpara Rocks, the jungle landscape, and the beautiful coral reefs surrounding the cape.
Next, you'll travel to the Tanaka Isson Museum -- a cultural gem dedicated to the renowned painter inspired by the beauty of the Amani Oshima Islands. The museum showcases Isson's and other local artists' work reflecting the southern tropical islands in Japan. Five different rooms feature permanent and temporary exhibitions. The museum is surrounded by a beautiful garden brimming with tropical plants.
