Your scenic journey begins at Hualien Port, where you board a comfortable coach and set off toward one of Taiwan’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders --Taroko Gorge. As you travel inland, enjoy views of lush mountains and dramatic landscapes that hint at the natural beauty to come.
Your first stop is Taroko National Park Visitor Center, where you’ll gain insight into the region’s fascinating geology, native wildlife, and the culture of the indigenous Truku people through educational exhibits and multimedia displays.
From there, travel deeper into the gorge on a winding mountain road. Along the way, you’ll pass two of Taroko’s most iconic landscapes—Swallow Grotto and the Tunnel of Nine Turns—both known for their towering marble cliffs, narrow canyons, and breathtaking views carved by the Liwu River.
Arriving in Tianxiang, the largest scenic area within the park, take time to visit Xiangde Temple, set on a hilltop with sweeping views of the gorge and valley below. Explore the peaceful temple grounds, surrounded by nature and serenity, and enjoy sightseeing in the tranquil Tianxiang area.
Before returning to port, have a brief photo stop at the Taroko Entrance Gate, a symbolic marble arch that marks the gateway to Taroko National Park. Take a moment for photos at this picturesque landmark, set against a backdrop of steep cliffs and dense forest.
This half-day tour concludes as you return comfortably to Hualien Port, taking with you unforgettable impressions of marble canyons, spiritual landmarks, and the deep natural beauty of Taiwan’s east coast.
Please Note:
Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. There are approximately 200 steps to the main shring at Xiangde Temple. For those who prefer not to climb, Pudu Bridge offers panoramic views of the gorge.
