Your transportation leaves Puerto Montt heading towards the southwest. The approximately 30-mile drive takes you initially over paved roads, but the last nine miles to the river feature a rather bumpy road.
Arriving at the shoreline, you will board either a small boat or a cataraft (runabout boat with outboard motor), depending on the conditions of the day, for a boat ride on the beautiful Rio Maullin. Because of landslides during the earthquake of Valdivia in 1960, the Rio Maullin can only be navigated by small boat today, so the river's natural surroundings and its flora and fauna are very much intact.
Your experienced guide will take you to the best places to try your luck fishing for salmon or trout. Some of the species found in the area are rainbow, steelhead and brown trout, and occasionally salmon. A picnic snack is included.
Please note: Maximum weight is 220 lbs. Minimum age is 12 years. Price is per boat. Two guests per boat (only one guest needs to book). Instruction and fishing gear are included. Time spent on the river is about three hours. Although only a few horn flies live near this river, wear light-colored clothing to avoid attracting them. Bring insect repellent. Fishing will be catch-and-release. No guarantees are made with respect to catching any fish. Bring a towel. Two guests per boat. Book early as only three boats are available.
