Begin your tour with an introduction to Cork, the second-largest city in Ireland, situated on the River Lee. Today, the Lee flows through the city in two main channels so that you will find yourself constantly crossing bridges on your panoramic drive.
You will see the spires of St Finbarr's Cathedral, the Old Courthouse, City Hall and the renowned Bells of Shandon. This unique university town is a hub for jazz, film, opera and theatre -- although it offers all the amenities of a large city, it retains the pleasant charm and friendliness of a country town.
Heading out of Cork, travel east to the village of Midleton -- the town from which the famous rare Irish whiskey gets its name. You will visit the Old Jameson Distillery, an experience that will take you right to the heart of the cherished whiskey-making tradition. Enjoy a guided tour of this beautifully restored 18th-century self-contained industrial complex. Check out the fully operational water-wheel and the copper still with a capacity of 32,000 gallons -- the largest in the world. Then, see the Irish whiskey legend come alive with a brief audiovisual presentation.
After the history lesson will be the opportunity for a tasting, where you can relax in the atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub and sample Ireland's finest whiskey. You'll have some free time to explore the craft shop, restaurant or coffee shop at the Jameson Heritage Centre before re-boarding the coach and returning to the ship.
