Nynashamn (Stockholm), Sweden

In summer, Swedish families flock to the myriad islands and seaside communities of the Stockholm Archipelago, to swim, sail, sauna and frolic among the cabins and granite shores. Nynäshamn is the southernmost community of this region, and a convenient port for cruise ships that eschew the time-consuming chore of navigating the yacht-crowded waters of the archipelago. Buses and commuter trains depart every 30 minutes for Stockholm a short 60 km (about one hour) away, and the tickets include day use of the local transport systems in Stockholm as well. The town has its own railway museum for those who choose to stay.
