A scenic drive by motorcoach takes you north across the Forth Road Bridge, through the Kingdom of Fife and into Perthshire to the village of Scone.
Formerly the coronation place of Scottish kings, including Macbeth and Robert the Bruce, Scone Palace (pronounced 'skoon') has played a central role throughout the history of Scotland. The palace is a treasure trove of Scottish history, and its 125 sumptuous rooms house a fabulous collection of French furniture, clocks, 16th-century needlework, including bed hangings worked by Mary Queen of Scots, ivories, objets d'art, and one of the finest collections of porcelain in the country. The palace's extensive grounds and gardens are also impressive and well worth exploring. Discover the castle at your own pace; there are stewards located throughout the palace, and your guide remains on hand to provide information and answer your questions. Ample time is afforded to absorb this quintessential Scottish royal residence.
Tea/coffee and scones are served before you begin the drive back to Newhaven.
Please note: Travel time to Scone Palace is approximately 75 minutes each way.
