Leave from the fishing village of Killybegs in the company of your guide and driver to enjoy a scenic drive through some of County Donegal's spectacular and picturesque areas. Wild and ruggedly beautiful, Donegal is Ireland's most remote county.
Stop at Glencolmcille Folk Village for afternoon tea and some traditional musicians will treat you to some Irish music. Steeped in local culture and language, the Glencolmcille Museum depicts lifestyles of a bygone era in southwest Donegal through an interpretative center, craft shop, tea house, school house, sheeben and thatched cottages dating back to 1750, 1850 and 1900. The village depicts an era of poverty and hardship. The smells of damp and musk are remnants of a time before insulation and central heating.
Drop into the schoolhouse where you will sit in a classroom to see where local children learned their native Irish language. At the next house, enjoy a talk on old Irish medicinal cures.
Donegal is also renowned for its tweed, so a demonstration of spinning and weaving is available for you. A host of traditional activities will take place in the Folk Village today, offering you an insight into traditional Ireland, you will re-join your motor coach and guide for the drive back to Killybegs and your waiting ship.
Please note: Activities and demonstrations offered at the Glencolmcille Folk Village are subject to change without notice. Suitable for guests using a wheelchair. The tour through the Folk Village is self-guided. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars.
