This panoramic tour takes you through the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, showcasing the enchanting Welsh countryside from the comfort of a coach. Watch for the magnificent castles of Carew and Pembroke as you discover the gentle, green hills and stunning coastline of this Welsh county.
Travel the short distance to St David's, named after the patron saint of Wales and officially recognized as Britain's smallest city. St David's is a magical place and claims Wales's most important religious monument -- St David's Cathedral. This magnificent building was started in the 12th century and built on the site of the monastery founded by St David. It has been an important shrine for pilgrims.
From St David's, you'll follow the coast road with its tantalizing glimpses of the sea and lovely fields and farms.
Stop briefly in the tiny village of Carew, boasting a disproportionately impressive castle whose history stretches back more than 2,000 years. Legend has it that the 17th-century lord of the castle was a pirate, and that his ghost (and that of his pet monkey!) haunt the castle today.
Before you return to Fishguard, head towards the coast and stop in the charming walled town of Pembroke. It is dominated by the castle of the same name, whose long and fascinating history can be traced to 1093. Pembroke Castle was actually the birthplace of Henry Tudor -- father of the infamous Henry VIII and grandfather of Elizabeth I.
Please note: Suitable for guests using a wheelchair with a companion to assist. Participants must be able to climb a few steps to board the motorcoach. This tour may operate in reverse order.
