Monte Argetario is situated in the south of Tuscany, and is the promontory considered the natural gateway to the Tuscan archipelago, with some close-by islands such as Giglio and Giannutri, both part of the Tuscan Nature Reserve. Today's tour consists in a sightseeing drive on the Argentario promontory from Porto Santo Stefano to Porto Ercole, a very charming village on the opposite side of the mountain. Artist Michelangelo Merisi, known to the world as Caravaggio, died here and is honored by the townhall. Admire the Mediterranean woods rich in olive trees, juniper, phyllireas and beech trees shining under the sun!
