Board a coach for a panoramic drive introducing you to the Slovenian coast and its hinterland. You will encounter the main highlights of the Istrian coastline.
As you approach the town of Izola, your guide will tell you about the history of the region and importance of the political decisions that were made for this region. Proceeding to Piran, you will have a small amount of free time to photograph the oldest of Slovenia's cities. This charming and inviting waterfront town resembles a large open-air museum with its rich cultural heritage and time-warp feel. Narrow streets, compact houses and wide-open squares give Piran its special feel.
You'll continue your panoramic drive past the seaside resort of Portoroz and on a past some salt flats, fruit groves and a traditional Istrian village. The village opens its doors to show visitors how the customs and heritage of Old Slovenia are still preserved and honored today. Stroll through the village and visit the church nestled among quaint houses. This is a great chance to meet and interact with local inhabitants and to gain an appreciation for their culture.
Taste some local delicacies at the farmers' market before returning to the pier.
Please note: This tour includes about a 1 ½ walking tour Piran as well as some walk in the Istrian village. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
