Take a mesmerizing journey through a rainforest wonderland, setting out from St George's, Grenada's capital city. This quaint town has pretty red-tiled roofs and several aromatic spice markets.
As you head inland, you'll pass through the community of St Paul's en route to the Laura Herb & Spice Garden. Here, your helpful guide will teach you about the different spices grown on the island.
Continue to the central part of the island, where you will spot a variety of plantations growing cocoa, nutmeg and banana. Arriving at Grand Etang Lake in the National Park, you'll find yourself in the midst of wild jungles, stunning rainforests, and ancient craters. The cobalt-blue lake lies in the crater of an extinct volcano, where the serene waters mirror the verdant surroundings, offering a tranquil escape at a breathtaking 1,900 feet above sea level. Your knowledgeable guide leads you on adventures along trails packed with endemic flora and fauna. The silence is punctuated by a symphony of bird calls, and the park's stunning crystal-clear water provides an unforgettable introduction to this island's lush and diverse landforms. Enjoy a refreshing drink at the Visitor Center.
On the descent, note the magnificent hanging carpets of green mountain ferns and pass through the quaint village of Vendome to Annandale. Disembark the coach for a short walk to a green paradise of rushing water and hanging ferns. You'll see some of Grenada's 450 species of flowering and medicinal plants here.
Continue to Fort Frederick, 800 feet above sea level. This vantage point offers a panoramic view of the horseshoe-shaped harbor, Fort George, the picturesque city, and Richmond Hill Prison. The construction of Fort Frederick was started by the French in 1779 and finished by the English in 1783, reflecting some of the island's history.
Return to the St George's pier via Lowther's Lane.
