Climb aboard a Squirrel helicopter for an exciting 50-minute flight from Port Nelson, crossing stunning Waimea Inlet.
Kahurangi is the Maori term for 'treasured possession' and, indeed, Kahurangi National Park is home to the greatest range of landforms, habitats and communities of plants and wildlife in the country. Your pilot makes a mountaintop landing (weather permitting), and you'll leave the helicopter for a photo opportunity.
Back in the helicopter, descend to sea level to explore iconic Abel Tasman National Park -- home to golden-sand beaches. A one-hour landing at Awaroa Bay gives you time to enjoy a stroll along the gorgeous beach or swim in the clear waters. You can purchase a refreshment at a nearby lodge (at your own expense).
Returning to Port Nelson by helicopter, you'll track along the Abel Tasman National Park coastline for terrific views and more photo opportunities.
Please note:
Tour operates weather permitting. Seating is two guests in front with the pilot and two behind. The pilot decides where everyone sits on the basis of weight and balance requirements. Minimum age is 10 years. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. Bring local currency if you wish to purchase refreshments at the lodge (cash only).
