Ras Al Khaimah -- one of the smaller Emirates -- offers some interesting cultural perspectives.
Set out on a panoramic drive that takes you to Jazirat Al Hamra -- the country's last-remaining traditionally built village. It is now a ghost town that is used as a backdrop or location for historical films. You can take photos here.
A short distance away is the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah. Housed in a fort that was once the residence of the ruling family, this intriguing facility offers a collection of archaeological and ethnological artifacts.
The newly renovated Mohammad Bin Salem Mosque is the oldest and largest mosque in Ras Al Khaimah.
Finally, you will take in coastal views from the beautiful Ras Al Khaimah Corniche before returning to the port.
Please note:
Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders and midriffs must be covered. Tight-fitting, transparent or translucent clothing is not permitted. Do not wear white clothing, as it is seldom adequately opaque for visiting a mosque. To ensure that you are granted access, please err on the side of conservatism with your attire. Ladies must wear a headscarf. You must remove your shoes before entering the mosque(s).
