Discover the special qualities of Tonga and its nature at the magnificent Oholei Beach Resort.
A panoramic drive through Nuku'alofa takes you along the western side of Tongatapu to see the Chief's Whistles -- widely considered the most spectacular blowholes in the entire South Pacific.
Next, proceed to Oholei Resort to witness the traditional opening of the Umu -- the traditional Tongan underground oven -- as well as the coconut demonstration. You will be warmly welcomed to a buffet lunch where you will be able to enjoy the roasted suckling pig on a spit, as well as local cuisine and fresh seasonal fruits.
You'll be able to watch traditional Tongan dances while enjoying your meals, as is customary at many of our occasions.
Please Note:
Oholei is where you'll find the Hina cave and the beach, as you only have 30 minutes to look inside and wander the beach. Access to the beach and the Hina cave is optional. The only way that leads down to the beach and cave will be via the 60steps which contains three rest platforms and is only suggested for physically fit visitors. The restrooms are quite basic. Wear suitable walking shoes. Bring insect repellent and bottled water with you. If you want to go for a quick dip in the sea, wear your swimsuit underneath your clothes; carry a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, and a hat. The beach may not be suitable for swimming due to rocks and coral at low tide.
