Drive through Ponta Delgada; then, head northeast along the pleasant roads bordering agricultural areas and stretching across the island to Ribeira Grande. This is the oldest and largest city on the north coast and has a distinct air of Portuguese influence.
Next, you will continue along mountain roads to the summit of Pico da Barrosa Mountain, where you will see great views of Fire Lake, said to be one of the most beautiful of the island's lakes.
During the return to Ponta Delgada, see the western part of the island with over 100 small volcanoes as you descend towards Remedios.
Before reaching your ship in Ponta Delgada, a visit to a Pineapple Plantation will be made where you will learn about the process of cultivating and marketing this delicious tropical fruit.
