Heading out of the city and meeting up with the main highway, you will first drive along the shores of Lake Llanquihue and pass through the village of Ensenada.
As you circle the lake, the scenery becomes more beautiful with each mile, passing lush green countryside, oxen-plowed fields, and weather-beaten clapboard barns and churches. The Lake District is one of the most spectacular areas in Chile. Hundreds of picturesque lakes and numerous active volcanoes dominate the surrounding landscape.
In Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, you will board a boat for a 45-minute cruise on Lake Todos Los Santos, also known as Emerald Lake for its vivid blue-green color. Theodore Roosevelt called it the most beautiful lake in the world.
Continuing on to Petrohue Rapids, you'll see a gleaming succession of blue rapids against a backdrop of mountains, including nearby Osorno Volcano. Here, you will stop to walk the pathways and trails, taking in the gorgeous views of the rapids, waterfalls, mountains and natural wilderness.
Re-boarding the coach, you will drive to Puerto Varas. Here, you will have a short time to discover Puerto Varas and its handicraft market.
Drive back to Puerto Montt.
Please note:
It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. On select sailings when time in port permits you will have time to visit the Angelmó Handicraft Market on your own after you return to the ship. The market is a 400-yard walk from the pier. This tour is not available on all sailing due to the time in port. Order of sites visited may vary.
