Leave the pier for a delightful introduction to Skagen -- a charming fishing town with a busy harbor. Located in the northernmost part of Denmark, it is a favorite with Danes and visitors alike.
You're headed to Raabjerg -- the largest migrating dune in Denmark. It is about a half-mile both wide and long and stands 130 feet tall. Each year, the dune moves about 15 yards towards the northeast, closer to Grenen at the top of Denmark.
Don't miss the buried church, built in the second half of the 14th century and, at the time, the largest church in the northern Jutland. Today, only the steeple of the ancient church is visible above the sand.
Continue north to Grenen/Skagens Odde. This is where the North and Baltic Seas converge. A tractor-pulled trolley takes you along the last stretch out to the very tip of Denmark and of the European continent. You can stand with one foot in each sea here. A gateway as well as a land's end, this area attracts more than one million visitors every year.
Enjoy the beautiful scenery before returning to the pier.
