A 15-minute speedboat ride brings you to Podkop, a military tunnel used to conceal Yugoslav Navy ships.
Continue your boat ride to the small island of Bisevo, located about three miles from Vis. Here, you will find a network of caves only accessed from the sea. Around noontime each day, the sea is calm, and the sun's rays penetrate one of the caverns through an underwater opening, turning the waters a shimmering silver and the interior a stunning blue, thus giving it the name the Blue Cave. Board a local boat to enter the Blue Cave through a small natural opening and experience the cave's unique beauty.
Head to the fishing village of Komiza, situated on the sunny side of the island and sheltered from northerly winds. Compact, with winding alleys and narrow houses huddled together along the harbor, the town is one of the quaintest in the Croatian islands. It is also steeped in traditions of fishing, which you will discover with a visit to the small fishermen's museum housed in a 16th-century Venetian tower.
At Borjoska Beach, where Mamma Mia! was filmed, swim in the crystal-clear sea. Return to Vis in about one hour, enjoying sea breezes and views along the way.
Please note: Ride will be bumpy. Guests who are pregnant or have a back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Guests prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication. Minimum age is 8 years. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. Swim at your own risk. Expect a line to enter the Blue Cave during peak hours in the summer season. Swimming is not permitted inside the Blue Cave.
