Start your day with a visit to Asklepion -- the most prominent archaeological site on the island. In ancient times, this site served a dual-purpose -- it was a temple to Asklepios (the god of medicine and health) as well as a healing resort. This is where Hippocrates, the founding father of medicine, practiced and developed many of healing methods that are still used today.
Stop at the Odeon, an old Roman theater, which was unearthed in 1929. On the opposite side of the Odeon is the western excavation site, said to be an ancient gymnasium. You can visit the Nymphaeum and Xysto ruins from the Hellenistic and Roman eras here.
There will be one last stop at the plane tree of Hippocrates near the ancient Castle Fortress on the harbor.
Head back to Kos for a look at the site of the ancient agora (marketplace) before returning to the pier.
Please note: Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair.
