Head to the city of Le Precheur, a serene coastal village located at Martinique's northern tip. This day of unspoiled natural beauty includes black-sand beaches, rainforest roads and a peaceful ambience.
You'll first encounter Ceron House -- an old sugar factory from the 17th century. Thoroughly rehabilitated for a role in the 21st century, this site boasts an amazing garden and a great restaurant. Culture, history, gastronomy, fauna, and flora of Martinique poetically meld here. Visit the garden and cross a cacao field for a presentation about the process of harvesting cacao. Cacao 101 unravels the transformation of cacao into chocolate, followed by a sampling of cacao nibs.
A short drive away, a black-sand beach awaits. Formed by volcanic activity, such beaches offer a dramatic, colorful backdrop to the Caribbean's azure waters, providing a captivating contrast and an unforgettable vista. A snack is served at the beach, and there's time to enjoy the water before returning to the ship.
