Fed from sources located deep in the island's interior, the Balthazar River snakes through a tropical rainforest teeming with flora and fauna.
Your adventure begins with a 45-minute drive from St George's through the scenic, hilly interior of the Grand Etang Rain Forest Reserve to Balthazar Estate. Here, you'll find the tubing launch site.
After a safety briefing, grab a life vest, helmet, and a modified inner tube and hop into the river. A wet, wild and wonderful journey awaits as you and your guide gently spin and swirl in the river currents, taking in the bright-green scenery of tropical vegetation and wildlife. This is a thrilling ride down the river, stopping in the pools along the way to catch your breath.
At the conclusion of your journey, you will enjoy a much-deserved rum punch or local fruit juice before returning to the ship.
Please note: Minimum age is 6 years. Maximum weight is 250 lbs. Guests who are pregnant or have a back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Tour operates river conditions permitting. Wear aqua shoes. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat.
