Experience some of the special atmosphere of Stewart Island as you drive along most of its 12 miles of road. This orientation tour offers an insight into New Zealand's southernmost community of approximately 300 residents.
After tendering to the Golden Bay jetty, you will transfer to the tiny town of Halfmoon Bay, formerly known as Oban. Here, you will find a general store, a hotel and a couple of cafés.
You'll drive to Lee Bay via the white-sand beaches of Butterfield and Horseshoe Bays.
Take in the coastal views from Observation Point and return to the Golden Bay pier.
Please note:
It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf. Antarctic winds and sudden showers can make for cool temperatures on Stewart Island, regardless of the season.
