Get a feel for Thai life as you journey north to see local markets and the stone-cutting district.
It's a 45-minute air-conditioned motorcoach ride to the largest produce market in Chonburi. The Nong Mon Market is lined with more than 100 stalls selling dried seafood, desserts, fruits and preserved food. Famous delicacies of the area are desserts, including Khao Larm (sweet sticky rice in bamboo) and Khanom Chak (sweet coconut wrapped in palm leaf). Strike a bargain if you wish to taste these (at your own expense).
Next up is Ang Sila -- a seaside fishing village known for its granite products. The fishermen here are not only skilled at catching fish but also making implements and crafts from granite. Their craftsmanship and knowledge can't be learned elsewhere -- it is simply passed from generation to generation. Watch a carving demonstration to see how pestles and mortars are made. Perhaps you'll purchase one for a souvenir.
Round off your outing with cool drinks at Bang Phra Golf Clubhouse before transferring back to the pier.
