SEATTLE, November 15, 2023 – Natalya Leahy, president of Seabourn, the Seattle-based leader in ultra-luxury ocean voyages and expedition travel, has been named one of the 2023 Women of Influence by Puget Sound Business Journal. Leahy was one of just 14 to receive this year’s honor, which recognizes women for their professional accomplishments and contributions to their communities and are sought out as advisers and mentors within their field.
The group of distinguished 14 women were selected by Puget Sound Business Journal’s leadership team and contributors, from a field of more than 200 nominations.
“It is a great honor to be selected as one of the 2023 Women of Influence, and to join the other amazing and accomplished honorees in receiving this recognition,” Leahy said. “I have a long and strong passion for diversity, community, and education, and genuinely believe in the distinct value that diversity brings to leadership and business. It is so great to see so many amazing female leaders from different industries being role models for many talented people.”
Leahy is passionate about her position as a female leader and works to make the business world a more inclusive space. Supporting and mentoring women has been a long-standing passion of hers in every organization she worked in. She has started mentorship programs, sponsored many company-wide female-focused networking events and the Women Warriors speaking series, and supported Seabourn’s more than 200 female officers through regular coffee connections and chats.
"At Seabourn, diversity is the heart of our ultra-luxury lifestyle. We bring the best and most talented people from all over the world and empower their individuality to shine. This allows our team to provide our guests with warm, intuitive and the most authentic service, full of personalized moments, which is a core reason our guests choose Seabourn,” Leahy adds.
Leahy took the helm of Seabourn in March 2023, where she oversees all aspects of the award-winning line’s global business and operations. She leads a diverse team of more than 4,000 shoreside and seagoing employees from 90 countries, who together coordinate the movements and guest experiences of a fleet of seven ultra-luxury ships. Most recently, she spearheaded the launch of Seabourn’s second ultra-luxury expedition vessel, Seabourn Pursuit, which launched in August 2023.
Prior to that, she spent seven years with Holland America Group, where she served as Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer providing holistic strategic, financial, and operational leadership across the group’s four cruise lines including Seabourn, Princess, Holland America Line and P&O Australia, as well as land operations.
Before joining the cruise industry, she held various leadership roles with Procter & Gamble and Coca-Cola, supporting iconic brands and new product launches.
Born and raised in Uzbekistan, Leahy earned an MBA degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Science degree in banking and finance from Tashkent Financial University. She received the Michigan State University School of Business Alumni Achievement Award and serves on the MSU Business School Advisory Board, the University of Washington Global Business Center Board, and Manson Construction Company Board. She is also a speaker at many events on the topics of leadership, diversity and travel.
Leahy is a former board member of the Seattle Aquarium and is the founding member of the Special Olympics organization in Uzbekistan. She currently resides in Woodinville, Wash., outside of Seattle, with her two daughters.
