The Nyererere National Park which was formerly known as Selous Game Reserve covers an area larger than Switzerland and offers a truly wild safari experience. The park’s topography varies from rolling grassy woodlands and plains, to rocky outcrops cut by the Rufiji River whose tributaries form a network of lakes, lagoons, and channels.
Depart from the pier and transfer to Zanzibar International Airport, where you will board a light aircraft for your 45-minute flight to the Nyerere National Park. Take in the spectacular aerial views of the Tanzanian countryside en-route.
Upon arrival, you will be met by a local safari guide. Board a 4-wheel drive safari vehicle and enjoy the thrill of observing wildlife in their natural habitat. Nyerere National Park is regarded as one of Africa's largest park, and during the game drive, some of the animals you may see include elephants, lions, Cape buffalo, hippopotamus and a large variety of birds. All vehicles feature an open hatch, allowing for easy viewing.
Enjoy game viewing in this vast wilderness, before stopping at picnic site and enjoy picnic lunch a special site and use of washrooms. Continue with your game drive in the Nyerere National Park.
In the late afternoon, you will be dropped off at the airstrip for your return flight back to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred back to the ship.
It is recommended that guests dress in casual clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, as well as wear flat, comfortable shoes.

This tour has a 60-day cancellation. Any cancellations made within 60 days of arrival into Zanzibar will be charged the full amount of this tour. This will include if a guest cancels their voyage within 60 days of arrival into Zanzibar, guests will be charged the full amount of the tour.

As darkness falls, the temperature drops, and the wind tends to rise; bring a warm cover-up. Zanzibar is a very special place and keeping it so means that change will happen only at the pace that suits the people that live here. You can show your respect for local custom by dressing conservatively. The local people are very appreciative when visitors are respectful of this dress code: bare shoulders, midriffs and thighs are not acceptable; wearing long sleeves and minimum of capri-length pants or skirts is optimal. Photography of police officers or persons in uniform is not allowed. Please obtain permission before taking photographs of the local people. Your guide will assist you with this. It is recommended that guests dress in casual clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen, as well as wear flat, comfortable shoes. Vehicles used at Nyerere National Park will be a Jeep 4x4 or Toyota Landcruiser. This excursion is not suitable for guests with limited mobility as they will need to independently board and disembark from the motorcoaches and 4x4’s with little to no assistance.
