Your experience of village life begins with a traditional kava ceremony welcome and briefing on important Fijian protocol. Try a sample of the national drink “yagona” made from the powdered root of the pepper tree and served in a bilo (half coconut shell). Witness how the kava is pounded or grinded into a very fine form before it's mixed with water.
Next, learn about the many uses of the coconut plant known as tree of life which include scraping of the coconut to produce coconut milk. Enjoy a sample if you like. Enjoy the freshly made local baking's from Fijian Donut etc including refreshments while the young men and women of the village entertain you.
Whilst you are into a swing of things, it is time to bid the villagers goodbye boarding your coach as you continue through on a scenic drive into Suva’s prime residential areas up through Tamavua Heights, before you head back to the city, driving by the parliament house for a photo stop. Have your picture taken with the guards at the gates of The Government House, which is the home of the current president.
