Victoria, the smallest capital city in the world, possesses a great deal of charm.
Your panoramic drive passes some important landmarks -- the National Library Building, the Old Courthouse, the National Museum, and other colonial-era buildings. A highlight is the Clock Tower, erected in 1903 to celebrate the Seychelles becoming an English colony. The silver tower is a replica of the clock tower outside Victoria Station in London. Victoria is filled with wooden houses sporting colorful, corrugated tin roofs and wrought-iron balconies.
Stroll through the beautiful Botanic Gardens. They showcase more than 200 species of indigenous flora, including elephant apple trees, octopus trees and coco de mer palms. See the giant tortoises that call the gardens their home and pause at a scenic overlook for a panoramic vista of Victoria, the port, and the yacht basin.
High above the town is Mission Lodge -- the ruins of a school for the children of freed slaves. Here you can walk among 100-year-old sandragon trees and enjoy views of Mahé's west coast.
Continue to the airport, where you will meet up with your luggage in time to check in for your flight.
