Welcome to the heart of North Kohala, where old sugar plantations, Hawaiian legends, and natural beauty converge. Rainfall nourishes this resplendent countryside, creating a landscape adorned with plentiful waterfalls. Nowhere on Hawai’i Island is the importance of water more evident than in the land of Kamehameha I. As water continues its eternal cycle, it shapes dramatic valleys, streams, and cliffs, revealing the rich history and culture of North Kohala.
Begin your adventure with a contrasting scenic 1 ½ hour drive. Travel from the barren volcanic flows to the lush green country of North Kohala. Pass through the charming plantation towns of Hawi and Kapa’au, where you’ll find the life-sized statue of King Kamehameha. Enter private property behind locked gates and embark on an exclusive 1-mile trail. Explore two streams with your knowledgeable guide, passing several waterfalls along the way. You’ll have an opportunity to swim in the private mountain pool with cascading falls overhead.
After your hike and refreshing swim, it’s time to refuel with a delightful premium picnic lunch. Picture yourself perched on one of the most breathtaking overlooks in Hawaii—Mokulanikila. The panoramic views of lush valleys, azure waters, and rugged cliffs will leave you awe-struck. Once you’ve enjoyed your lunch and soaked in the mesmerizing scenery, it’s time to head back to the pier and rejoin your ship, carrying memories of this unforgettable Hawaiian adventure.
