Enjoy a two-hour scenic journey from the pier in San Antonio to the capital of Chile. Santiago de Chile is a city of contrasts. With remnants of its colonial past to the ultramodern, high-rise buildings of the financial center, this metropolis will surprise you.
You begin by heading south through the downtown area, passing the Club Hipico, a manicured horseracing track in the older residential part of the city. Proceed alongside the Parque O'Higgins and the Cousiño Palace built between 1870 and 1878 for the wealthy Cousino family. Pass in front of La Moneda Presidential Palace and see the lively Plaza de Armas, the city's main square.
From here, you'll take the famous Alameda -- Santiago's colorful main avenue -- crossing the Mapocho River to visit the bohemian Bellavista district.
From halfway up San Cristobal Hill, you will have a panoramic view of Santiago and the Andes Mountains.
Stop at the Los Dominicos handicraft market in the Las Condes district, built like a small village with numerous handicraft shops. You will find artisans working in copper, wool, ceramics, lapis lazuli and other indigenous materials. Enjoy a stroll around this handicraft village.
Lunch is served in a typical local restaurant.
In the late afternoon, you will transfer to the airport in time for your flight.
Please note: Travel time to Santiago is two hours. This tour is available to only guests whose cruise ends in Santiago. It will accommodate those transferring to the airport, with flights departing after 9:30pm, and those staying overnight in Santiago at a hotel booked through Seabourn.
