From the late 1870s to early 1900s, the tiny fishing village of Skagen attracted many European painters who were inspired by the extraordinary light at this latitude. They were known as the Skagen Painters, producing some of the finest works of Danish art using local subjects -- th estunning, untamed landscape, the picturesque village, and the local fishermen. Many achieved worldwide fame at the international exhibitions of the time.

Drachmanns Hus is where poet, author and painter Holger Drachmann -- founder of the Skagen Painters. The original interior has been beautifully preserved, with works by the artist himself as well as others on display.
