Your day will be full of surprises as you immerse yourself in Izmir's everyday culture.
Depart for a day in Sirince village -- the perfect synthesis of Turkish and Greek culture - and stroll through the streets to see its beautiful, typical Greek houses. If you wish, you can step inside the St John the Baptist Church on your own.
You will have time to purchase handicrafts sold by the village ladies and taste some of the local wine.
Lunch is served in a Turkish home -- a chance to embrace the domestic culture of the village. Your meal ends with a cup of delicious, industrial-strength Turkish coffee. In addition to great home cooking, fun with your hosts and a slice of Turkish life, a fortune-teller will stop by to read your coffee cup. Yes, this is a thing.
At the end of the day, light refreshments are served at a weaving facility before you return to the ship.
Please note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. You must remove your shoes at one or more location(s). Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, steep inclines, and steps.
