Visit the Stratonikeia archeological site located 90 minutes from Bodrum. Inhabited from the late Bronze Age (1500 BC) to the present day, the site reflects both ancient and contemporary development spanning seven different civilizations.
Begin your tour with a relaxing glass of Turkish tea or coffee in the garden of a mosque. This is your chance to absorb the enormity and the importance of this location as part of Turkey’s incredible history.
Ancient structures you will see include the Roman gymnasium, theatre, and baths, the northern city gate, and the colonnaded North Street. Oddly, houses built on top of the archeological site as recently as 50 years ago are also visible. To construct their homes, the locals used some of the ancient columns and marble pieces. Most of the site was buried until approximately 20 years ago, and excavations are still ongoing.
Enjoy a traditional Turkish pancake -- a gozleme -- accompanied by a glass of Turkish tea at an authentic village café.
You’ll return to the port at Bodrum.
