Travel from the direction of the Spanish city of Benidorm into the Sierra Aitana, a range of mountains and isolated valleys in the Costa Blanca. It is part of The Prebaetic System in the eastern end of Iberian Peninsula. Administratively, the mountainous area is located in the Marina Baixa, Alcoià and Comtat comarcas in the northern part of Alicante province. Its peak at 1,558 meters above sea level is the highest point of the province. Aitana mountain range is spread over an area of 2,000 hectares, about ten miles from the Mediterranean coast. Apart from the highest peak that gives the name to the mountain system, the other notable peaks are Penya Alta, Penya Catxa, El Mulero, and Alt del Carrascar.
Hike into Aitana Mountain and have some free time for one tapa and a refreshment in the old village of Finestrat. Return to the ship via motor coach following your mountain adventure.
Please note: The tour will not operate in adverse weather conditions. Minimum age to participate is 14. Wear suitable hiking shoes. Bring a backpack with a jacket, folding raincoat, sun protection, and head cover. This tour is recommended for guests in good physical condition. The terrain is rough and uneven. An energy bar will be provided during the hike.
