Take your experience to the next level with a scenic drive through Dominica and an unforgettable snorkeling experience at Champagne Reef.
To start your adventure, set out on a drive through lush rain forests, past cascading waterfalls, and with glimpses of the azure Caribbean Sea along the way, culminating in a breathtaking coastal panorama. Your destination is the famous reef and snorkel location known as Champagne Reef.
Perched on the edge of a submerged volcano, this reef is Dominica's number one snorkeling hot spot, and ranks among the top five snorkeling spots in the Caribbean. More than just a coral reef, this one takes its name from the underwater geothermal springs that vent gasses in the form of thousands of warm bubbles. It makes you feel as if you're swimming through a giant glass of sparkling wine – what could be more luxurious than that?
The reef is a spectacular underwater wonderland – expect to see a myriad of sea life including sponges, lobster, parrotfish and a resident population of Hawksbill turtles in addition to colorful coral gardens. A PADI-certified guide will be on hand to explain everything.
Following your snorkel adventure, relax on the beach where you will have some free time to swim and enjoy the warm crystal-clear Caribbean waters before the drive back to the ship.
Please note: The shoreline where you’ll enter the beach is rocky and uneven. Guests should have a good sense of balance. Minimum age is 12 years. Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, and a hat. Guests with heart conditions, epilepsy, diabetes or asthma are not allowed to participate in snorkeling. Waiver must be signed and medical conditions disclosed. The route is winding. Guests who are prone to motion sickness should consider this before booking and/or take appropriate medication.
