Welcome to St Kitts, where canopied forests, volcanic beaches, and vibrant island culture will instantly embrace you.
On a panoramic drive through the historical town of Basseterre, the capital of St Kitts, note the eclectic mix of traditional French and Victorian architecture, appealing churches, and West Indian cottages.
Rustling trees and waves lapping the shoreline entertain you en route to Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site represents a journey through time. Explore the 300-year-old fortifications -- the second-largest construction of its type in the Western Hemisphere and a testament to European colonial expansion. Its grisly past includes an active role in the African slave trade. From the bastion, take in sweeping views of the coastline, countryside, and five neighboring islands.
Next, visit Romney Manor, a historic site that houses the beautiful Caribelle Batik factory and gardens. Its lush 12-acre garden is set in a lovely wooded valley. Interestingly, Samuel Jefferson, great-grandfather of Thomas Jefferson, was the original owner of this estate. Watch skilled artisans create stunning silk prints using traditional batik methods and bask in the tranquility of this Caribbean gem.
Finally, pause at Timothy Hill to enjoy a panoramic view of the vast expanse of Frigate Bay Resort with its golden sandy beaches and 18-hole golf course.
